Homework Assignments
Students have nightly Grammar, Vocabulary, and Math homework! Please check their agenda books nightly. You can also visit the Homework Page for more information.
Building Vocabulary
As part of our vocabulary program students will be following a systematic approach to word awareness and vocabulary building that is "based on the dual premises that over 90% of English words of two or more syllables are of Greek or Latin origin and that most academic vocabulary is derived from Latin and Greek origins." Throughout the year we will be focusing on learning the Greek and Latin prefixes, bases, and suffixes, as well as learning essential word strategies that will enable students to discover the meaning of vocabulary words they encounter inside and outside of school.
This week's focus is:
Latin and Greek bases - dent and odont = "tooth, teeth"
